Student Wellness

Wellness Challenge

Our Policy

Our District has developed a Wellness Policy that is focused on improving the health of students. The policy was developed by the health and wellness advisory council that includes teachers, parents, administrators, and the district nurse.

Sharing the Message of Wellness

One of our goals is to share the message of nutrition and wellness via our Food Service department's website. The site emphasizes the importance of nutrition AND fitness. It provides information on the nutrition and fitness for teachers, parents, and students, as well as, a variety of learning tools.

District Wellness Committee

The district wellness committee provides a way to inform teachers, staff, students and families about the work the school is doing to improve the health and academic success of its students. The district wellness committee is also a way to ensure that district level wellness policies are implemented at the building level. In addition, these committees represent the unique perspective of the community in a school building. This enables the health priorities and activities put in place to truly reflect the needs and interests of that school.

The district wellness committees assess the school health environment, programs and policies in place and identify ways to strengthen these to improve the health of students and staff. The committees works develop and implement an action plan based on what they learn about the school. They also provide advice and expertise to administrators in the building and provide feedback to the district regarding implementation of health-related wellness policies and programs and report on the content and implementation to the public (including parents, students and the community members).

Our district wellness committee meets quarterly. The meeting information may be found on the district calendar and the calendar on this page.

All meetings are open to the public.  Please contact our superintendent if you have any questions.
